Brainchild of founder Julie, n-Gem grew up in and around Alicante, on Spain's beautiful Costa Blanca. The jewellery became popular on a person-to-person-recommendation basis due mainly to its originality, quality and simply being in a class of its own. There was and still is nothing else like it. Julie believed that there was still a place for genuine jewellery, especially having seen the demise of the industry in the face of immitation plastic items from the far east. Client testimony, demand and goodwill keep us going as n-Gem.com strives to open up our small Alicante marketplace to the rest of the world.

Julie Alty - director
Julie began her business career in catering at the age of sixteen and worked her way up rapidly through the ranks in the hotel sector. She left to run a Free House and progressed by then building up her own successful catering outlet, finding time to become a mum on the way. She moved to Spain in 2006 and applied her business skills to jewellery where she saw a gap in the market which needed plugging. 

A long awaited e-commerce ambition for Julie, n-Gem.com finally set sail on 3rd. April 2014.

Noemi Hernández - art and design
Noemi studied at the 'Escuela de Bellas Artes y Oficio' in Salamanca where she had the opportunity to pass through one of the oldest and prestigious goldsmith design houses of the world; that of the 'Escuela de Bellas Artes' in Seville. Noemi's explains, 'This opened up the world of design and creation of articles using semi-precious gemstones.'. A constant source of inspiration, Noemi never fails to impress with each and every item she produces.

Kate Higham - art and design
We'll let an extract from Kate's own biographer tell the story:
 'Kate has a special affinity with the different qualities of the stones and precious metals she uses. She does not impose elaborate settings on her work but rather seeks to appropriately assemble and craft together the innate differences of the metals, beads and stones to enhance one another. She is quick to ascertain what her clients might look good wearing, perfectly judging their skin tone and the size of what they might be comfortable wearing.'

Photographer, sysadmin, and general dogsbody, Steve keeps the site going and does all the other boring stuff whilst the others talk and get creative. Chemical Engineer by profession, his aim is to one day have a page of his own on n-Gem.com, dedicated to the molecular structure of the gemstones.
